Uzhgorod cake

Cake "Uzhgorod" is a souvenir cake and a sweet business card of the city of Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian region. Created by Valentin Stefano in 2010. A small cake weighing 410 g, which is created on the basis dessert "Morang" (baked meringue with hazelnuts). Initially, it was conceived as an improved version "Kyiv Cake". The basis of the cake has not changed since 2010. The cake is made without adding flour, on based on hazelnut meringue. The secret of making mousse cream is kept a secret, but it is knownthat the main ingredients are condensed milk, butter and cream[1]. The top layer of the dessert decorates the Uzhhorod Greek Catholic Cathedral. Scandal After the cake's popularity grew and demand began to outstrip supply, in 2017 Valentyn Stefano decided to limit the amount of dessert production and sell the cake only within the limits Transcarpathian region. According to the confectioner, this caused a conflict with the owners production shop, which were counting on the expansion of production. Therefore, variations appeared of the original "Uzhhorod" cake under the same name[2]. In 2021, the court confirmed the copyright the rights of Valentina Stefano to invent the recipe of the original cake "Uzhhorod". As of 2015 about six thousand cakes were made per month for mainly local consumption [1]. In September 2021, a mini-sculpture dedicated to the "Uzhhorod" cake appeared in Uzhhorod. She was installed on September 27, 2021 next to the Faculty of Biology of UzhNU on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the cake Uzhgorod from confectioner Valentyn Stefanyo, the feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross and World Day tourism Sculptor Roman Murnyk.
